I Have Who Has Shapes Game!

Today I am going to share my "I have who has-colors plus shapes" game with you! This is a fun and engaging game to help your students practice their colors and shapes at the same time! There are 24 cards included in this game and the cards are printed 4 cards per page. The shapes that are included are: circle, square, triangle, rectangle, rhombus, pentagon, hexagon and octagon.

cards
To play, the player says I have (color and shape) who has (color and shape). For example, the middle card (in the picture below) the player would say "I have the orange circle, who has the red square?"
first 3 cards
There are start and end cards included. The end card has a red octagon :)
first and last cards
When you are not using the cards, they are easily stored in a sandwich size bag.
easy storage!
My students love playing "I have, who has games." I like these games because they engage the whole group and everyone has to pay attention because you don't know who has the card before yours and you don't want to get caught not paying attention and affecting the game. Do you use "I have, who has" games in your class?

New Freebie for Back to School!

I've been working on lots of different word problems packets. I'm in the process of a fall themed packet and a community helpers themed packet. I just finished a back to school theme packet that has 6 problems and it's available as a freebie in my TPT store!

The word problem cards are the perfect size to cut apart and glue into math journals or on a piece of paper. All of the problems are addition problems. They would be great to use at the beginning of school to get students in the habit of doing a daily word problem.

Do you have any suggestions for themes for upcoming word problem packets? I'm going to start working on ones for 2nd grade as well.

Magical Product Swap!

I'm participating the Magical Product Swap hosted by Mrs. Stanford's Class. This time I'm paired up with Adventures in Teaching! Be sure to stop by her blog as well- its fabulous (plus you can see her review of my product)! The product I'm checking out today is her Beginning Sounds Literacy Center and Printables. This packet is fantastic. I love the sorting beginning sounds game, it is perfect for kindergarteners and can be used to meet a wide range of levels.

Sound Cards

Sorting Mats
Next I laminated and cut everything out!

Here are all of the sound cards cut out. I just love the clip art that is used, it is so cute! The students (especially the girls) loved the clip art and were talking about how cute some of the animals were.

Here are the sorting mats all cut out and ready to go.

Then we got started sorting the sounds. I split the cards and mats up into 2 groups and let students work in pairs. They had so much fun sorting the cards. We have used these cards in a variety of ways. We have worked individually and in pairs. Also, we have had the cards and mats pre-sorted into specific groups along with randomly selecting mats and a handful of cards to sort.

All cleaned up! I love being able to easily store games.

New Products, A Freebie, And A Quick Giveaway!

Today I've been working on a few new products, a science activity and random craft projects. Here is my new math packet that I finished today. It focuses on numbers 1-120 and goes along with the first grade common core math standards.

Another math product that I finally finished is my Tally Marks: Counting Bear Theme. I love using counting bears (and unifix cubes) in my classroom and I had created a packet using unifix cubes and this counting bears packet has been on my to do list for awhile.

Now for a freebie! I've linked up with Graphics From The Pond and created this cute Halloween themed game for recognizing numbers 1-20. You can get it for free from my TPT store. Be sure to check out the linky party for more great ghost themed items.

Now for something fun: If you pin any 1, 2 or all three of the items above (please pin from my TPT store and all of the links are included above) and leave a comment with the link(s) to the pin(s) and your email address, tomorrow night I'm going to use the random number generator thing and pick a winner and you can choose if you want the Numbers 1-120 packet or the Tally Marks: Counting Bear Theme packet. Happy pinning!

Getting Ready for School!

I still have 2 more weeks before the rest of my current pre-k students leave for kindergarten and then I get my new group. I have spent the last few days getting things ready for the first few weeks of school and starting to find activities and make things for the rest of September and October. Today I finished my fall math activities packet which includes 3 different activities focusing on the numbers 0-10.

Now I'm getting ready to spend the rest of the day printing, cutting and laminating all of the great stuff I got during the TPT Back to School sale! I bought printer ink, paper and more laminating pages yesterday so I am ready to get started!

Making my list, checking it twice....

The back to school sale at TPT now has caused for Christmas songs to be stuck in my head. I've made my wish list (actually 2- things I have to have and things that I want but the others come first) and have checked it multiple times and I'm still checking out TPT and pinterest for more ideas. Especially with teaching new themes this fall and working with a Kindergarten class, I've had lots of things to search for! Searching through pinterest as not helped my addiction and has lead to lots of new pins and boards. Plus I have found so many great freebies, which has lead to finding new stores and blogs. I can't wait to share some of these freebies with you during my Friday Freebie Spotlights!

So be sure to check out Teachers Pay Teachers on Sunday and Monday for great savings! You can get 10% off if you use the discount code "BTS12" and many of the stores (including mine!) are having additional sales as well.

Have fun shopping!

Cowboy/Western Unit

Starting next week, I am doing a 2 week cowboy and western unit with my pre-k class. Tonight I finally finished my math activities for this unit! There are a variety of activities in this unit since my class is currently a mixture of the few students I have left that do not start kindergarten until the end of August, and the few new students that have just started that will be in my class for the next year. Here is a glimpse at some of the items that are included:

Number sequencing cards for numbers 1-20

Ten frame cards for numbers 1-10
Activities to practice counting and writing numbers
Overall there are 23 pages in this packet with 4 different activities. I really like how the sequencing game turned out since I am getting ready to start practicing number order and recognizing numbers 1-10 with my younger students.

I'm excited to be doing this theme unit, I have never really done this theme before so it's been fun to search pinterest  for ideas :)

Monday- finished product!

Tonight I have been working on finishing a few products. Here is the link to my newest product that is now available on TPT: greater than/less than/equal to with numbers 1-10: counting bears theme. It is $2.00 and includes reference sheets for students to help with the < > = signs, worksheets and a game. I laminated the worksheets to be one of my options in my math center. The game that is included is also another math center option.

Today we finalized our list of themes (and the order and dates) for September through December and each month we focus on an author so we picked those as well. So in addition to working on products, I've been searching pinterest and TPT for things for our upcoming themes. Especially for our themes that we've never done before and are starting from scratch. Be sure to keep an eye on my pinterest boards because I will be starting a board for each of the themes (and maybe you will be able to find something useful on there :) ).

Also, don't forget if you have a freebie that you would like for me to spotlight during my blog post series focusing on freebies, please fill out the form located at this blog post.

Bingo! and Giveaway

Here are some photos of my Numbers 1-20 Bingo being used in my classroom. My students love playing bingo and its a great way to practice and review different skills. This bingo game focuses on numbers 1-20 and we play that you have to fill up your board to win.

When we played this time we were using unifix cubes as counters. I've also used counting bears and buttons for game pieces. We usually play 3 or 4 rounds and students have to switch boards each time. Sometimes we play as a large group, other times it's with just 3 or 4 students and 1 student is 'bingo boss' and calls out the numbers/letters. Do you play bingo with your class?

Don't forget to enter my giveaway (and you can win this bingo game!).
